Real Richmond Wedding: Quinnchel and Larry at The Renaissance

Quinnchel and Larry
August 18, 2018

How They Met
Quinnchel and Larry first met in the fall of 2012. Quinnchel was starting her professional career and Larry happened to be training her. After about a month of training, the two started talking every day at work, and when Quinnchel left for another job, they agreed on a first date. They went to dinner and a movie and had an amazing time, just enjoying each other’s company. Quinnchel explains, “We stayed in the parking lot hours after the movie ended…it felt like our eighth date because of how close we had become before actually going out!”

The Proposal
Fast-forward to 2016, Quinnchel was stationed away from home for three months and to help with her homesickness, the two took a trip to one of their favorite places, Savannah, GA. On their second day there, Larry surprised Quinnchel with a carriage ride around the historic district, but the surprises didn’t stop there. “While touring, the carriage driver took us to a fountain and explained that any couple that kisses in front of the fountain will have everlasting love.” After some coaxing, the two walked over and Larry said, “Well let’s make it happen then.” And when Quinnchel turned around, Larry pulled out a box, asking Quinnchel to be his wife.

The Details
“I always wanted to have my wedding outside of a church and we love historic buildings.” As soon as they toured The Renaissance, they knew it was fate. The old polished wood floors along with the enormous windows and chandeliers, it was a dream come true.

“Our theme was Harlem nights, so our wedding was a mixture of Hollywood Glam and Vintage.” Their colors were black and champagne, which looked regal against the antique charm The Renaissance has to offer.

Before the ceremony, Quinnchel thought she was going to go the day without her grandmother, Betty, but right before she walked down the aisle, Betty made an appearance via Facetime, Quinnchel’s favorite part of the day.

At the reception, the two had a personalized popcorn bar with adorable favor bags with their picture on it. Together with their closest family and friends, they had a night to remember. As they kissed underneath the regal chandeliers, they proved that Savannah tour guide right.

Favorite Part of the Day
While Quinnchel’s favorite part of the day was Facetiming her grandmother, Larry’s favorite part was their introduction as husband and wife. “He enjoyed the entire day!”

Biggest Challenge
“Individuals not RSVP’ing and then coming with guests that were not invited.”

Best Piece of Advice
“Take your time when preparing, that was one of the reasons I wanted a two-year engagement. Some people will not RSVP and show up still, some will and not show up, so prepare for that. When planning your guest list try to keep it to close family and friends, do the same for your bridal party (we loved ours!) because they were there for us every step of the way.”
