Real Richmond Wedding: Anne and Bradley’s Classic Southern Wedding

Anne and Bradley
May 26, 2018

How They Met
Anne and Bradley met after they were set up by a fellow coworker, who is now known as the “matchmaker.” After Bradley graduated from Longwood University and Anne graduated from James Madison University, the two ended up working for the same company in two different locations. Their matchmaker began dropping lines to Anne while in Blackstone saying she needed a “good Southern man” and mentioned Bradley who worked in the Farmville clinic. Unbeknownst to Anne, the matchmaker was saying the same thing to Bradley in Farmville.

A month or so later, Anne and Bradley found themselves working in the same office and were invited out to lunch by their matchmaker. The trio sat down at a nearby restaurant, when the match-maker stood up, suddenly noting that she had a “meeting” she forgot about. Anne explains, “We were left alone to share lunch and the rest is history!”

The Proposal
The two were on a cruise with two of their best friends in the Bahamas when Bradley asked Anne to spend the rest of her life with him. The foursome had spent the day in Nassau, sailing on a Catamaran, snorkeling, and riding jet skis. “When we returned to the ship, we planned to get ready and continue and ‘intense’ putt-putt competition prior to dinner.” On the way to the front of the ship to meet their friends, Bradley stopped on a private balcony, bent to one knee and popped the question. Anne said, “Of course!” and their friends met them with champagne glasses in hand. “It was a trip we’ll remember forever!”

The Details
When picking their venue, it was an easy choice. “It was in front of my grandfather’s home in our hometown. The setting is a Southern historical home and holds many happy memories!” For their theme, they went for a classic black and white Southern theme with some Charleston-esque touches. “We wanted a more formal setting and knew black and white was timeless!”

Kim Moody Design helped bring Anne’s floral vision to life. “[Kim Moody Design] created the most stunning floral arrangements of greenery, white, and pink florals, magnolia garlands and sweet arrangements in Jefferson cups on cocktail tables.” For their linens, they kept in theme with black and white with a few silver textured linens to add a pop.

When thinking about their wedding, the two wanted a “fun” factor. “To us, that meant having the dance floor full!” Thanks to their band, they got the party started and the dancefloor was packed from start to finish.

Favorite Part of the Day
While both Anne and Bradley have so many favorite moments of the day, they both felt like the most special moment was when they first saw each other at the ceremony. “The anticipation of the day left us both nervous, but the excitement set in with the first look at the altar. We will never forget the feeling of being surrounded by our closest family and friends as we tied the knot!”

Biggest Challenge
“Honestly, after picking the date that coordinated with our families and bridal party, our wedding planner made everything else easy! There are so many decisions when it comes to planning the big day and we never felt overwhelmed and we owe it all to Kim Moody and her fantastic team!”

Best Piece of Advice
Anne and Bradley have two pieces of advice. “Our photographer said to remember the reason behind all of the excitement and planning and not to forget to take time to enjoy each other.” And their other piece? Find room in your budget for a wedding planner. “It was the best decision we made, hands down. There were so many things happening behind the scenes that our wedding planner organized that we never knew about. You don’t want to spend most of the day worrying about the details instead of enjoying the moment and soaking it all in.”
