Krista and Patrick
October 21, 2017

How They Met
Patrick and Krista first met through mutual friends at a Hampden Sydney football game in 2010. They exchanged numbers and after talking on the phone and texting all of winter break, the two became close friends. Krista explains, “Patrick asked me to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, which later played into the theme of our rehearsal dinner.” After that perfect first date, the rest was history.

The Proposal
Patrick popped the question to Krista at their favorite winery on April 24, 2016. “After spending the afternoon sharing a bottle of wine, Patrick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.” On their drive back to Richmond, they decided to enjoy the moment together before they started the excited phone calls to friends and family. Patrick insisted that they stop at Colleen’s house (Krista’s best friend) to show off the ring and tell her in person. “Little did I know, Patrick and Colleen had planned a surprise engagement party and my parents were there waiting to celebrate with us!”

The Details
“We were looking for a timeless venue…Patrick is also a big golfer, so having a golf course view was an added bonus!” The two used natural and gold accents to play off the classic look of their venue, and since it was an October wedding, they used fall colors like burgundy and pink to tie the theme together.

“I had wanted the bridesmaids to wear a burgundy color, but after I chose my wedding dress I knew it wouldn’t look best.” Krista and her entourage went shopping at Bella Bridesmaids, and after we saw the “Cinnamon Rose” color, we knew it would be perfect!” From there, the couple’s theme and colors fell into place.

For their reception, they kept things pretty simple but gave the space an elegant touch using Magnolia leaves and antique Lily’s on the chandeliers. “It smelled amazing in there!” Krista made the escort cards herself, customizing each one to match the guest’s personality.

As their beautiful fall day came to a close they surprised their guests with a vintage Rolls-Royce as their getaway car. The perfect classic ending to a perfectly classic wedding.

Favorite Part of the Day
Krista’s favorite part of the day was the exit in the Rolls Royce. “It was the first time we had truly been alone together all day and we got to reminisce the day while we rode to the Jefferson Hotel. We really felt like a million bucks!”

Patrick’s favorite part was leaving the church as husband and wife. All of their friends and family sent the wedding party off to the reception with ribbon streamers as they rode off in a trolley.

Biggest Challenge
“Not getting carried away! There are so many things you can do to make your wedding stand out. We had to remember that sometimes less is more.”

Best Piece of Advice
“Don’t stress! I know everyone says that but the day goes so fast and nothing will ever go 100% according to your plans. Don’t let one hiccup ruin your day.”
