How They Met
Connor and Kristen met in high school when a mutual friend introduced them in the hallway. They hit it off right away. Connor wasted no time and asked Kristen to be his girlfriend a few weeks later at a Friday night football game. Their first date was to see Harry Potter when the two were just 15 years old! Kristen expands, “We fell in love quickly and our lives simply became part of one another’s. Our families have been best friends ever since!”

The Proposal
Connor asked Kristen to be his wife in August 2017 at a vineyard in Charlottesville, VA in front of a few of their best friends. Kristen and Connor took a walk down to the lake where her sister asked to get a picture of the two of them. As Kristen was getting ready to smile, Connor got down on one knee. After dating for eight years, Kristen knew a proposal was right around the corner but never expected it. Of course, she said, “Yes!”

The Details
The two knew as soon as they toured their venue it was the fairytale venue for their celebration. It had the perfect ambiance and the entire space had that Southern Charm they were looking for.” They chose blue, blush, ivory, and a pop of hot pink for their colors. “We were going for a southern-rustic, but elegant vibe.”

Kristen walked down the flower petal aisle as Connor cried happy tears. “All my nerves faded away once I saw him….that moment between us felt so emotional and intimate”

After the ceremony, their 160 guests traveled to the gorgeous reception hall. They chose wooden table numbers to give their reception a down-home feel. “My twin sister/MOH helped a lot by making us the cutest chalkboard signs that definitely added to the theme!” Their flowers, which incorporated fresh greenery and bright pink hues, gave their night a light and airy feel.

Their night ended with a dance party surrounded by their closest family and friends. The perfect ending to a perfect spring night where high school sweethearts became high school newlyweds.

Favorite Part of the Day
“My absolute favorite part of the day was walking down the aisle…We decided not to do a first look, and I’m glad we waited because it made that moment absolutely magical.”

Biggest Challenge
“I’m sort of a perfectionist, so accepting help from others was a bit of a challenge sometimes. Knowing when to skip the details and stress, and pass along a task to a family member or MOH was tough sometimes, but we are so thankful for the wonderful support we had!”

Best Piece of Advice
“If you decide not to hire a full wedding planner like us, take things step-by-step. Wedding planning should be a fun experience for you and your fiancee! Don’t sweat the small things and remember what this is all about!”

Kristen also says to follow your heart when it comes to your vendors and venue. “We absolutely loved all of our vendors, and it’s largely because we felt a connection to them from day one.”
