How They Met
Elizabeth and Andre met while they both were student-athletes at Lynchburg College. Andre was a senior on the baseball team, and Elizabeth was a freshman on the cheerleading team. Elizabeth found herself at a party one night where Andre was welcoming people at the front door. He proceeded to introduce himself and try and ask out Elizabeth. She explains, “I wasn’t looking for anything at the time, so I turned him down.” Three years later, Elizabeth liked one of his pictures on Facebook and Andre asked her out through a Facebook message. This time, she said yes. Sparks flew immediately and the rest is history.

The Proposal
Andre asked Elizabeth to marry him at their daughter, Kinsley’s, first birthday party. They decided to go all out and throw a big party at Elizabeth’s aunt’s house. Andre, who sings and plays guitar in a band, had been telling Elizabeth that he’d been writing a song for Kinsley. “He gathered everyone around to sing the song he wrote, but it turned out to be the song he wrote asking me to marry him!” After the song was over, he got down on one knee, and Elizabeth, once again, said yes.

The Details
The two used their love for the beach as inspiration for their early fall wedding. They incorporated blush, navy, neutrals, and gold to give their night a nautical feel. Elizabeth’s bridesmaids wore a deep navy as the groomsmen kept it beachy in khakis and a button down. For their flowers, they incorporated both real and fake flowers with blush and on-trend greenery to ultimately tie their theme together.

“We wanted the ceremony to be one to remember with our own personalized vows.” During the mixing of the sands tradition, Kinsley added her own sand to her parent’s mix, signifying their whole family coming together as one.

Their reception was filled with food, dancing, and fun surrounded by their closest family and friends.

Favorite Part of the Day
“My favorite part of the day was the ceremony and hearing my husband’s vows. I was so nervous to not mess up on mine and just hearing his vows was so incredibly special.” Andre’s favorite part was their first dance because he loved the song they picked and loved dancing with his wife for the first time.

Biggest Challenge
“The biggest challenge we had was fitting everyone inside the building!”

Best Piece of Advice
“Enjoy every moment as it goes by so fast! Try not to focus on the little things. Guests remember the food, music, drinks, and just having a good time!”
