How They Met
Katie and David met through the social dating app, Tinder, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. After exchanging a few messages, the had their first “official” date at a Mexican Restaurant in Colonial Heights on September 16th, 2014.

The Proposal
David wanted his proposal to Katie to be a complete surprise. David had a friend drive Katie to her favorite place, Carter Mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia. Katie explains, “It’s a family tradition to go every year to pick pumpkins and apples, take hayrides, and eat apple cider donuts.” David has lined a trail with balloons and was waiting at the end with a frame that said, “love you the mostestoest,” their signature saying. He got down on one knee, but Katie couldn’t stop crying happy tears. “I hugged him so long he had to ask me, ‘do you want to see your ring?'” Their family and friends then ran down the trail to congratulate them. They all hopped in a limo and went to David’s parent’s house for a surprise engagement party with all of their family and friends. “It was absolutely perfect!”

The Details
“David is an avid hunter, so we wanted to incorporate that into our wedding decor and theme.” They settled on “southern rustic” as their theme which included monograms, cowboy boots, cotton wreaths on doors, magnolia flowers, farm tables, shotgun shells for boutonnieres, and a buck and doe as a cake topper! They even used deer antlers in their centerpieces!

Their colors were cranberry, dusty blue, and white. “We used blue mason jars for our centerpieces, and that cranberry was a gorgeous fall color to match.” For their flowers, they used paper flowers. “I know it seems weird and I hated to tell people until they saw them, but holy cow! You couldn’t even tell they were made from paper, and I get to keep and display my wedding bouquet forever!’

Their night had multiple WOW factors including a gorgeous clear top tent, a huge monogram wreath during their ceremony, and a choreographed dance by Katie and her brother.

Favorite Part of the Day
“David’s face when he saw me, having my brother there to walk me down the aisle, and the very end when David started to get emotional and said, ‘I don’t want it to end!'”

David’s favorite part was seeing Katie walk down the aisle, then when the two kissed after Katie smashed cake in his face!

Biggest Challenge
“Our original DJ was a family friend who is in the Army Reserves, and was called to assist in hurricane relief, just 16 days before our wedding day!” They were lucky enough to find a great DJ last minute.

Best Piece of Advice
“BREATHE!! Have fun! It seriously goes by way too fast! Enjoy every moment and don’t worry about the small stuff!”
