Hannah and Brian
August 5, 2017
How They Met
Hannah and Brian initially met in August of 2008 while they were both working as student equipment managers for the Richmond Spiders Football Program. But the two didn’t start dating until December 19th of that year, or to any avid Spiders fan, the day U of R won the FCS National Championship game. Hannah explains, “After the incredible win, we returned back home to Richmond and went on our first ‘official’ date to celebrate together.”
The Proposal
Brian asked Hannah to be his wife just before the sunset on August 2, 2016. They were at Sunset Beach, NC with their families and celebrating their 8 year anniversary. “Our dog, Joseph, joined us on the beach for the proposal and barked through the entire thing!” Hannah said yes and they celebrated once again.
The Details
“We always wanted to have a farm wedding because it suited our Southern lifestyle and family history.” The moment they saw Alturia Farm, the angels started singing. From the landscaping to the huge bridal and groom suites, it was kismet.
With their decor and theme, they wanted their Southern-rooted family to feel right at home. They strived to keep things simple so that everyone could focus on what the day was really about, Hannah and Brian finally becoming husband and wife! For colors, the two chose gray tones with touches of gold and white flowers. “I chose gray because it is timeless and looks great on everyone.” The white flowers and abundance of greenery played off the gray giving a classic cool-toned look.
The ceremony was a special time for these two U of R grads, as they said their personalized vows in a gorgeous grassy field. “It was our opportunity to honor our best friends and close family as a way to say thank you for their support as our relationship has grown.” The ceremony included a reading of “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and an acoustic performance of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up.”
